SHARONMeditation Medicine: Managing Emotions

Sharon is fortunate enough to receive the gift of healing that has worked to bring her own body, mind and spirit into balance after many years of suffering from chronic health conditions. Being her first patient has ignited her passion for healing using practices from her ancestors in India, that she likes to describe as a “remembering” of her true self. At the age of 24, Sharon set out on a journey to find a cure for her chronic IBS, food allergies, anxiety, insomnia and stress from her high-pressure finance career in London, only to discover her true calling in serving others with this wisdom.

Sharon is very passionate about inspiring transformational shifts and relieving chronic lifestyle-related disease through the perfect union of Yoga, Meditation, and Ayurveda. Her classes infuse the ancient practices of pranayama (breathing techniques), mantra chanting, yogic philosophy, and the therapeutics of yoga backed by ayurvedic medicine and modern scientific evidence. Her goal is to provide the tools for self-healing and help others embody the healthiest, most loving, and high-vibe versions of themselves.

Sharon is a student, teacher, and humble soul. She is a certified Ayurvedic Nutrition & Lifestyle Counsellor from The Ayurveda Institute, London UK. She is a Hatha Yoga & Meditation Teacher from the Blooming Lotus Yoga school in Bali and is currently training in advanced, specialist Ayurvedic-Yoga Therapy in Singapore.

    Why I practice meditation:

Meditation has been my greatest teacher. It helps me be a much nicer, calmer, and healthier person. Over the years it reduced my levels of anxiety hugely and helped me develop resilience, which allowed my body to restore and heal itself from physical health issues. The relationship between your mind and how it heals the body is not to be taken for granted. It creates much-needed space between my thoughts and I”, by reminding me that we are perfect as we are, there is nowhere or nothing to be”, other than Being in this moment.

    Why I teach meditation:

I am on a mission to encourage others to introduce meditation into their daily lifestyle and improve their well-being, as it did for me. Having felt the life-changing health benefits of meditation and mindful breathing, I am committed to sharing the value of cultivating calm on and off the mat, and showing that there is yoga in everything that we do.

    What am I passionate about:

Living with purpose, feeling ALIVE in my body and mind, and cherishing this precious life. To arrive at this place of gratitude and vibrant health, we have to begin by healing ourselves from the inside out, before we can turn to help our neighbour. It is the highest service you can do, to sit with yourself.  I want to hold your hand in the journey from powerless to powerful.

    Inspirations from:

My yogi masters Lily and Sri Ramananda Mayi, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Dr. Vasant Lad, Dr. Deepika Rodrigo, Dr. Dilip Sarkar, Dr. Satyam.

What does “SPACE TO BE” mean/look like to you?

A chance to catch up with ourselves. No judgement, no expectations. A relaxing space for happy vibes, me-time, and uplifting each other collectively.

What does “LIVE SIMPLY” mean to you?

The practice of honouring myself daily with meditation, pranayama, and often chanting has transformed my ideas of how to live. No longer do I wish to be fast, extroverted and busy, because this practice has led me to a path of wanting to live slow, kind, and simple. It requires far less energy and keeps my body happy too. I believe we are given so much messaging from marketing, social media, magazines, to buy, do, be something – anything other than ourselves. I want to question these ideas, turn off our phones, and lead ourselves back home.
