Other than being a yoga teacher, Mei is also an accredited social worker who works with people who experience trauma in their lives. She is interested in finding ways to alleviate the impact of primary and secondary trauma that is stored in the body through yoga practice. She also loves to read, travel, explore and learn new things.
Yoga allows me to be more aware of somatic symptoms and find the connection between the mind and body. It has helped me to become much more aware of the impact of mental stress on the body, which has a great impact on physical health. Hence, through regular yoga practice, it has really helped me in my own healing from my physical health condition. Yoga is not just about the asanas. It is a way of living. The other limbs (or pillars) in yoga has also taught me to be more grounded, focused and finding the flow in the things that I do.
I would like to share the benefits of yoga practice with others and I hope that it can also help others find healing in the mind and body.
An emotionally and psychologically safe place of sanctuary to heal
To pay attention to and show gratitude towards the most seemingly simple things in life, to be contented with what we have and not desire for more so that we can focus on what gives us energy in our life and not be distracted by unnecessary things.
