About Martin Bläse & His Gongs
Martin Bläse is a German gong maker and sound artist known for creating individually handcrafted gongs with a strong emphasis on resonance, material, surface and tonal character. His work sits at the meeting point of instrument making and metal art: each gong is shaped through an intensive process of heating, hammering and refinement, allowing subtle variations in colour, texture and sound to emerge naturally. Rather than treating every gong as identical, this process gives each piece its own visual and acoustic personality. The result is an instrument that can be experienced both as a powerful source of layered overtones and vibration, and as a sculptural object in its own right.
