What You’ll Get

“The gong is the sound of Creativity itself. One who plays the gong plays the Universe.” – Yogi Bhajan

Join us for a three day intensive gong training with Martha Collard, Founder of Red Doors Studio in Hong Kong, home of the largest collection of meditation gongs in Asia. She is a long time yogi, founding Chairman of the HK Yoga Society, KRI Instructor, professional facilitator, trainer and CATalyst for wellbeing.

Modern man is in a constant state of stress and monkey minds prevent centering and grounding. The gongs allow us to find that quiet space within, offers deep relaxation and rejuvenation at all levels so that we may respond rather than react to the stressors in our lives. Through teaching others to play and performing for large and small audiences, she aspires to reverse the tidal wave of mental ill health affecting the world today by offering simple, elegant, effective solutions that are ancient in origin.

Teaching with empathy and humor she shares her knowledge through a highly interactive workshop designed to empower you to facilitate a state of being that elicits healing and rejuvenation. She offers a variety of workshops including a short Gotta Hit a Gong taster; a 3 day Basic Gong Training; and 2 days of either Playing For or with Others. This trip she will offer Level 1 Basic Gong Training.

This is a complete course in how to play the gong, from rank novice to intermediate playing techniques. No prior musical or gong experience is required, and the course is suitable for beginners as well as those who have some knowledge of and exposure to playing.   In this workshop you will learn:

  • History of gongs
  • How to approach a gong
  • The power of intention
  • Develop your ability to listen
  • Basic techniques for playing both one and two handed, sitting and standing
  • Understand the effects of playing different areas of the gong
  • How to create a full experience of sound with rhythm, volume, and playing patterns
  • How to select and take care of your gong
  • Different ways to use a gong.

This is an ideal workshop for those who wish to begin their gong journey with expert tuition in the powerful gong space. There will be plenty of opportunity to practice on a variety of gongs of varying size. Participants will have ample opportunity to deepen their own personal experience with this powerful transformative tool. Gongs are provided however you are free to bring your own should you possess one.

By the end of the workshop you will have the basic skill set for giving a one on one gong relaxation as well as techniques for playing to larger groups such as a yoga class. Upon completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of attendance that demonstrates basic understanding and knowledge of the art of gong.

About Martha Collard
Throughout most of her adult life Martha pursued alternative practices initially out of curiosity, and then as a means of self-development. Her journey stretched from Reiki to TM, from Iyengar yoga to Vipassana, from labyrinths to gongs and much more. She was the founding Chairman of the Yoga Society of Hong Kong and has completed a Sound Therapy certification in the USA. She is expanding her knowledge by pursuing higher levels of yoga therapy training, Integral Sound work and sound healing. Her current focus is on the ancient practices of labyrinths, gong relaxation and Kundalini yoga. Through these practices she found balance, strength and understanding. Leaving the world of corporate management consulting behind she founded Red Doors Studio in 2015 as a platform from which she shares her skills and knowledge with the community.   Currently the studio serves as a bridge between old and new offering ancient practices such as yoga, walking meditation on labyrinths and deep relaxation with gongs to communities to uplift and transform by facilitating a sense of calm and peace. Red Doors hosts the largest meditation gong collection in Asia, is the only dedicated gong studio in Asia and is now a center of excellence for performance, training and the sale of quality instruments.

The workshop will be held at SPACE2B, 2B Stanley Street, Singapore 068721.

“I really really enjoyed learning more tools & have fallen in love with the ‘no dimensions’. I was really inspired by both of your energy & commitment & as a couple. The sharing circles were also a lovely way to connect.”
